DMACK vows to improve snow tyre

DMACK will remain in Scandinavia next week to further develop its snow tyre ahead of next year’s Rally Sweden after a troubled outing in Karlstad this week. We’ve seen a lot of motorized bicycles over the years, but none look quite like the YikeBike. It looks like a miniature nineteenth century Penny Farthing bike that has no pedals and a backwards handle bar. But once you go beyond the looks of the YikeBike, the engineering is pretty interesting.

The YikeBike can be folded up to the size of a suitcase, it can be had in various composite materials including carbon fiber, and it is electrically powered. It even captures energy via regenerative braking. The downside? It only goes 12 miles per hour, and it could cost as much as $3,800. Oh, and it’s impossible to look cool while riding a YikeBike.

Translogic’s Bradley Hasemeyer traveled to England to try the YikeBike For himself, and the five-minute video is available after the jump. Yes, it looks awkward, but we’d be happy to give it a go ourselves.
